Symantec: Leaked Norton Utilities 2006 source code already published months ago - robinsongropen
Hackers connected with the Unknown hacktivist collective publicised the source code filesfor Symantec's Norton Utilities 2006 product on The Pirate Bay BitTorrent website on Monday, but accordant to the security vender the one files had been discharged in January.
The Pirate Bay laurel torrent was accompanied by a message in which the hackers referred to Symantec as "the worst security vendor on planet Earth" and hinted that the release is non the result of a new security measur rupture. At the beginning of January, a mathematical group of hackers called Lords of Dharmaraja, also affiliated with Unnamed, claimed to have stolen the source code for multiple Symantec products and well-tried to wring money from the company.
A few days later, the group released the source code for the 2006 reading of Norton Utilities with the design of helping a Booker Taliaferro Washington province man's lawsuit against Symantec. The Man had filed a charge claiming that the trial run versions of Norton Utilities and several other Symantec products show misleading selective information about the "wellness" of their users' computers in order to scare them into purchasing the full version of the products.
Norton Utilities is a product that includes different Windows system optimisation and sustentation tools like register defragmenter, register cleaner, disk defragmenter, disk cleaner, file recovery, services manager and others.
"As we stated at that clock time, the 2006 version of Norton Utilities is no longer sold Beaver State supported," Paden said. "The latest translation of Norton Utilities has been completely rebuilt and shares no park code with Norton Utilities 2006."
What is more, the encrypt's leak poses no security system threat to users of the latest adaptation of Norton Utilities or another Symantec products, Paden said.
